Home Menu
Find It Virginia is the library app for almost 90 Virginian libraries. The Find It Virginia and the Library Now app both have the similar main menu landing for when you first launch the app: you are taken to a complete listing of all participating libraries. If you allow location access for the app, the libraries closest to your geo-location will pop up first. Otherwise, the libraries are listed alphabetically. At this point, you can choose to either scroll through the pages of libraries, or begin typing your library’s name into the search bar at the top of the screen. When you find your library, tap the library’s name to launch their library app.
Individual Libraries
The content inside each Virginia library varies slightly. Some libraries only allow users to access their catalog and one or two other features, while others give patrons access to eBooks and social media accounts.
All libraries offer free access to Credo’s Literati Public, Gales’ Cengage database through Access My Library, TumbleBooks and DaybyDayVA. Literati Public provides a quick and easy to use research tool to find reliable information. The Cengage database provides access to newspaper and magazine articles. Tumblebooks is a child-focused eBook provider that helps you or your child find age- and reading level- appropriate eBooks. DaybyDayVA provides daily suggestions of things to do with kids, such as sing-along songs, arts and craft projects, eBook suggestions and more.
Most libraries provide access to BookLook Mobile, which is an ISBN scanner. To use this feature, simply select the tile and your phone will be converted into a scanner. If your phone or tablet doesn’t have a camera, you can also type in the ISBN number. The app will automatically search the library’s collection to see if they have a copy of the book you scanned.
The Lonesome Pine Regional Library has their TLC Library.Solution catalog available for searching. If you have free time, check out their eDownloads catalog available through OverDrive for free eBooks, eAudioBooks, videos and music downloads.
If you accidentally select the wrong library when searching through the main menu, hitting the “back” arrow at the top of the app or on your device won’t change your location. Just select the “Choose a Different Virginia Library” at the bottom of the page; this will refresh the app and return you back to the main listing of libraries.
The Cumberland County Public Library shares similar features with the Lonesome Pine Regional Library, with some additional items. You can browse their Evergreen catalog and request items while on the go. With the Cumberland County Library, you can also access their events feed, Facebook account or Twitter feed.
The Library of Virginia and the Central Rappahannock Regional Library both have their own library apps outside of the Find It Virginia app. You can still access their basic content through the Find It VA app, but you access additional content on each library’s own app. The Central Rappahannock Regional Library even has a link at the top of the app that will allow you to launch their app, directly from the Find It Virginia App.
