What is EBSCO?
EBSCO Information Services provides access to thousands of journals, eBooks and databases to libraries. EBSCO offers several products, including access to various databases, EBSCO Discovery Service, and eBooks. EBSCO’s Discovery Service provides the ability to perform high-end indexing and full-text searching of all of your resources.
How does the EBSCO Integration with Your Library’s Boopsie Mobile App Work?
The preferred method of integrating with EBSCO is to provide an app-to-app link between Your Library App and the EBSCO app. Once a patron accesses your library app, they select the EBSCO tab and Your Library App will automatically look for the EBSCO app on their phone. If the EBSCO app is already downloaded, it will automatically launch. If the EBSCO app hasn’t been installed, the library app user will be directed to the appropriate app store so they can download the EBSCO app.
EBSCO in Action via Your Library App!
Hoover Public Library in Alabama provides their patron’s with access to EBSCOhost, right from their library app. Patrons just select the Resources tab in order to access the EBSCOhost link. The EBSCOhost app launches immediately after selecting the EBSCO link.
Once inside the EBSCO app, patrons are taken to the main menu, where they can access their recent searches, saved articles or searches, as well as help and legal information about the app. After patrons receive an access code from their library, they can choose which databases to search through or adjust their search options.
After a patron finds an article they are interested in, they select the title and launch the article’s detail page. Here patrons can save the article, or email the link to someone else, read the article’s abstract, find out which database the article came from or under which subject the article is classified as. If you want to find other articles with similar subjects, you can just select the subject to quickly perform a subject search.
