Describe the community your library serves
Tulsa is a highly mobile community. We serve a population of over 600,000, ranging from rural communities to metropolitan Tulsa. We have 25 branches (4 regional libraries and a central library), homebound services and bookmobile.
Why did your library select Boopsie?
They had a national reputation. Once we met with them and saw their customer service, we were sold.
Describe your mobile strategy before Boopsie
We recognized a need for greater visibility and access in our community and had only scratched the service via social media. Our initial mobile website effort did not provide us with the customer response we desired because it could only be found on our website. Boopsie allowed us to go to that next level of customer awareness by featuring our app in the various app stores.
How does Boopsie support your overall community relations and/or strategic plan?
We’re in the business of serving as a hub for the community: reading, lifelong learning and access to information for all. It’s through Boopsie that we are able to provide our community a seamless connection to the library on the go. It has all the functionality people are most likely to want, such as library location finder, events calendars and the catalog. We’ve found lots of people download our ebooks and audiobooks on their phones as well. They can find us wherever they are. We love the fact that we are on a device that’s never far from a person.
What have your staff and patrons said about Boopsie?
They are happy we’re keeping in step with technology. They like the accessibility. It’s a great convenience – making it easier to be a library customer.
Would you recommend Boopsie to other libraries and why?
Definitely. We have had a good relationship. They worked closely with us on technical matters and provide us with promotional materials. Very responsive!
