Frequently Asked Questions

by Library App Users

Boopsie Library Apps Work Across All PlatformsQ. What Mobile Devices Do You Support?
A. Our mobile apps for libraries are available for Apple devices (iPhone, iPod, iPad), Android devices, Amazon Kindle Fire, Windows 8 phones and Windows 8 tablets.

Q. How Do I See If My Local Library Has A Boopsie For Libraries App?
A. To see if your library has a Boopsie App, go to the app store on your device, search for your library’s name or your city (or local area) plus the word “library”. The next time you are in your library, you can also ask the librarian for assistance. You can also look on your library’s website or use Boopsie’s awesome new Library Locator to find the library (with a Boopsie mobile app) nearest you!

Q. What If I Don’t Have An Account With My Library? Can I See/Use Your App?
A. If you don’t have a library account, you can still search a library’s catalog. If you wish to download any eBooks or other electronic resources, or place a hold on an item to pick up at your local library branch, you will need a library account (aka “library card”).

Q. How Do I Search For An Item In My Library’s App?
Search Your Library's Catalog Quickly With Their Mobile AppA. Boopsie’s Smart Prefix™ search works in much the same manner as Google’s “Search Suggest” (Instant). When you type in a Google search box, the results are automatically updated, in real time, with each keystroke. The primary difference with Smart Prefix search by Boopsie is that you don’t need to type full words, only parts of words, to get the same results. For instance, simply type “har pot ch” when you’re looking for “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and the results show up as you’re typing. Now you don’t need to remember how to spell an author’s entire last name to see if their book is available in your library.

Q. How Do I Place A Hold On An Item? or Cancel A Hold In My Library’s App?
A. After searching and finding an item you want to borrow from the library, you can place a hold on it to pick up at your local branch. From the catalog search, click on the item to see its details. Select the option to “request a hold”. After you enter in your library card number and PIN, you can select a location to pick up your item. To cancel a hold, click on the item name, then once more to confirm the cancellation.

Q. What are OverDrive and OneClickdigital?
Easily Access eBooks and eAudioBooks Through Your Library's App (When Applicable)A. OverDrive and OneClickdigital are collections of eBooks, AudioBooks, music and videos often available via a Library’s Mobile App. Your local library creates its own custom digital collection from OverDrive and OneClickdigital and makes those collections available to their patrons through a library subscription to that service. If your library has a subscription to OverDrive and OneClickdigital and then enables that channel in the library’s mobile app, you will see it in the main menu of the app. To check out an eBook, AudioBook, etc, you will need to have an account with your library.

Q. How Do I Download an eBook?

A. If your library offers content via OverDrive, OneClickdigital, etc, in their app you can download it directly to your mobile device. If you don’t have the OverDrive, OneClickdigital, etc, app on your device, you will be prompted to install it, before downloading your selection.

Q. Why Can’t I Log In To The App With My Library Card?
A. You will need to contact your library if there is an issue with your library card. Boopsie for Libraries does not have access to individual account information.
