Our Privacy Guidelines
Demco Software follows and is committed to the following privacy guidelines:
- Demco Software will use commercially reasonable controls to ensure that the information we collect is kept secure, and is only viewed or used by the authorized personnel
- Demco Software will comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards when protecting user information
- Demco Software will hold our employees, vendors, and contractors accountable to meet this same set of privacy guidelines.
Modifications to this Policy
Children Under the Age of 13
No one under the age of 13 may provide any personal information to or through any of our Sites. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
For any Site that is made available to the public through our library customers, the library is the operator of such Site under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and Demco receives information solely through the library operator, which is responsible for obtaining parental consent from any child under the age of 13 before collecting their information through any Demco Site.
If you are under the age of 13, do not use or provide any information through this Site.
If we learn we have inadvertently collected or received personal information from a child under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete such information. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under the age of 13, then please contact us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Collection and Use of Personal Information
Users of our Sites do not have to disclose information that personally identifies them. However, in order to use all of the features and functions offered by our Sites, a user may need to disclose personally identifiable information in order to use those features or functions. We do not collect personally identifiable information unless such information is voluntarily provided to us. Personally identifiable information may be directly provided to us by end users of our Sites or may be provided to us through our library customers and clients who may provide to us the personally identifiable information of their patrons. We use the personally identifiable information that we receive to provide service and support for our Sites and the features and functionality of our Sites.
The Collection and Use of Other Information
We also collect and use the following pieces of information:
- The IP address from which our Site was accessed;
- The name of the domain from which the internet was accessed;
- The type of browser and operating system used to access our Site;
- The date, time and duration of access to our Site;
- The pages, files, documents and links on our Site visited; and
- The internet address of the website from which our Site was accessed.
Most browsers automatically accept cookies. You can disable this function, but disabling cookies may impact your use and enjoyment of the Site. Certain features of our Site may require cookies to be active to function properly. When cookies are deactivated, such features may not be available. Users may block or disallow cookies and still gain access to some features of our Sites.
Certain features of our Sites may also use local stored objects (or Flash cookies) to collect and store information about your preferences and navigation to, from and on our Sites. Flash cookies are different from browser cookies because of the amount of, type of, and how data is stored. Cookie management tools provided by your browser will not remove Flash cookies. When you visit Sites that are mobile applications, we may request access to your location using GPS technology (or other similar technology) to determine your current location in order to determine the distance from institution locations.
If you do not want us to use your location for the purposes set forth above, you may opt out of that use. You may also turn off the location services for the mobile application located in your account settings or in your mobile phone settings.
The Site uses third-party analytics tools such as Google Analytics to collect information about your use of the Site, which information your web browser automatically sends to such analytics providers. This information includes the URLs of the web sites that you visit and your IP address. Our analytics providers may also set cookies or read preexisting cookies. This information is stored on the analytics providers’ servers. Our analytics providers use this information to provide us with reports about Site traffic and your visits to the Site (for example, the domain from which you access the Internet, the web address of the web site from which you linked to the Site, and the date and time of your visit to the web sites that you view and click through). We will use this data to improve the Site structure and content.
Do Not Track
Because of the automated cookie collection of our Sites, we do not honor “Do Not Track” requests.
Our Disclosure of Information
Demco does not sell or license use of the personally identifiable information of our users and customers.
We disclose information collected via the Sites with our third party vendors and suppliers that we utilize to make the Sites available to you, which may include without limitation our website developer, payment processor, analytics providers, ad networks, website host, and email marketing supplier.
If a user is accessing a Site that has been made available by Demco on behalf of our library customer, any information we collect is solely on behalf of our library customer and may be shared with such third party customer.
We may use and share with third parties any information we collect and receive to the extent permitted by applicable law, including, if it is reasonable to do so in our sole discretion, in the event of a subpoena, court order, law enforcement request, or other security issue. We also use and share with third parties information if we believe doing so is necessary to protect our rights or the rights of others. This includes disclosing information that is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action in the event of a violation of our contracts, policies, or procedures.
Information that is not personally identifiable is aggregated for purposes of generating statistical reports as well as managing and improving operations and services we offer. We may collect, use, transfer, and disclose information that is not personally identifiable to anyone for any purpose. We do not combine nonpersonally identifiable information with personally identifiable information.
Updating Personal and Customer Information
If you wish to have access to your personal information in our records, please contact us with your request at email@example.com. You may also request that we update personal information or correct any factual errors that you believe may exist regarding this information.
Site Access from Outside the United States
If you are visiting a Site from outside the United States, please be aware that Collected Information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States (where our and our suppliers’ servers and databases are located and operated). The data protection and related laws and regulations of the United States might not be as comprehensive as those in the country from which you are accessing the Site.
Our Sites may contain links to external websites (“Linked Websites”). Such Linked Websites are provided as a courtesy and for convenience only. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or security practices, of any Linked Website. We are not responsible for information collected by or from Linked Websites.
We have taken commercially reasonable physical, technical, and administrative precautions to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of information in our possession, including without limitation Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption and firewalls.
We routinely review data collection, storage and process practices, security measures, and physical security to help guard against unauthorized access to systems where information is stored. While no computer system is absolutely secure, we believe the measures implemented reduce the likelihood of security problems to a level appropriate to the type of data involved.
We cannot guarantee the security of e-mail messages while in transit. It is possible for e-mails to be intercepted in transit by unauthorized individuals and organizations. For this reason, we discourage the transmission by email of any information deemed sensitive.
Access to Personal Information in our possession is restricted to our employees and contractors on a need-to-know basis to operate, develop, and improve our Sites. Such employees and contractors are bound by confidentiality obligations and restrictions on their use of the information we collect.
The Services may allow you to view various social media platforms, for example, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube. LinkedIn, and Pinterest, but our Services do not connect to social medial services and will not log you in automatically. Although you may be accessing those platforms through our services, information shared on the social medial platforms is subject to those platforms’ privacy policies.
