Describe the community your library serves.

As Oregon’s largest public library, Multnomah serves nearly one-fifth of the state’s population with a wide variety of programs and services.

Why did your library select Boopsie?

Boopsie was the best match for our needs at the time. Their expertise aligning the integrated library system with a fast, fulfilling interface was very impressive. We’ve just hit 10,000 monthly users, so we feel we made the right choice, and we get that a lot from library patrons as well.

Describe your mobile strategy before Boopsie.

We had a decent web optimized interface that was an afterthought from our ILS vendor. It was pretty rudimentary. Thanks to a grant from our Library Foundation, we were able to take it to the next level with Boopsie.

How does Boopsie support your overall community relations and/or strategic plan?

We serve a very wired (and wireless), tech-savvy community that expects these types of services. What have your staff and patrons said about Boopsie?

Patrons have provided a constant source for ideas for tweaks and improvements. By far the majority of feedback is very complimentary and appreciative. Staff use the app as the key feature of our mobile reference services for patrons within the libraries.

Would you recommend Boopsie to other libraries and why?

I would encourage libraries to look at all their options, from mobile optimization to native apps, and figure out what works best for you. But definitely give your users a good mobile experience with your library. We’re expecting half of all web traffic to be from mobile devices in the next three to five years.
