What is Mango Languages?
Mango Languages is an online tool that teaches users new languages, or helps them refresh their language skills. With over 60 languages to choose from (including foreign languages, English Courses and Religious/Scholarly languages), Mango serves 98% of language learning demands.
How does the Mango Integration Work?
Boopsie provides a app-to-app integration with Mango. Just open your library app, select the Mango Languages channel and the Library App will automatically launch the Mango app so you can begin learning a new language!
Mango offers mobile apps for Android and Apple users. Users who are on different mobile platforms can still access Mango features via their website.
Benefits of a Mango Integration
According to Mango, 34% of patrons use Mango on their smartphones, using pockets of free time while on the go to learn a new language. Since Boopsie supports Mango, why not consider adding it as a feature on your library app to extend free language services to your mobile user community, and increase the usage of your Mango subscription!
Mango in Action via a Library Mobile App!
The Redwood City Public Library, a part of the Peninsula Library System, offers their Mango Language services as part of the Resources channel on their mobile library app.
Users can select either the Android or the Apple version to open the app.
After selecting a device option, the Mango Languages app will be launched. Log in using your Mango account credentials. If you don’t have a Mango account, you will need to register for an account through the library’s Mango website.
Once inside, you will access the main menu. Any lessons you have in progress are shown on the main menu, with a note on how long you have been studying and the last lesson you accessed.
Below the lessons is a link to the complete listing of language courses that are available through your library.
Choose a language to open the Language Profile page to find out where the language is predominantly spoken and the approximate number of speakers.
After you select Start Learning, you access the first unit of your selected language (in this case, Farsi). Each unit is divided into titled chapters. Select a Chapter to access individual lessons.
Download the lesson plans to access the main learning aspects.
Each lesson is broken up into slides, tap the sides of the page to flip between slides.
Mango divides the words into matching colors so you can tell which word corresponds to which in each language.
There’s even a Pirate language learning tool, which will come in handy on September 19th me hearties!
