Our service works with all, current systems. If you are using an older operating system, we recommend you download Google Chrome or Windows. These will allow patrons to view our content on your library’s desktop computers.
You will also need to confirm that our IP information is listed as “Safe” with your operating system’s firewall. If you need assistance in making these connections work, we will be happy to help walk you through the process. Our engineering team will work with your technical services department to fully integrate our system into whatever patron authentication protocols your library uses.
How do I manage the account?
After your library signs a short subscription agreement with Boopsie (our library industry partner and re-seller) you will be appointed an account manager who will set up your account. They will manage your account for you and ensure that circulation of your digital comics and graphic novels are metered out to your patrons in a steady manner in accordance with your budget requirements.
How Much Does it Cost?
Libraries pay $1,000 for each “block” of 2,500 credits which are metered out to your library patrons uniformly over a 12 month period. 1 credit gets you a comic, 2 credits a graphic novel. Most libraries buy multiple blocks of credits and add additional blocks of credits as demand for digital comics and graphic novels grows within their library.

How much do graphic novels circulate?
Graphic novels typically out-circ the most popular young adult novels, even at the peak of their popularity. For instance, during the peak of Twilight popularity, if you grabbed a random graphic novel from the shelf, it would be quite likely as popular as the YA novels.
There are several reasons that play into why graphic novels circulate at a higher rate. One reason is that graphic novels and comic books don’t take as long a time to read as their fiction counterparts; therefore they can be consumed and turned over faster. The other is that the age range of comics and graphic novels is typically much wider than traditional fiction novels. While novels are generally ported to certain age ranges, graphic novels often appeal to both younger and older readers.
In Cuyahoga County Public Library, graphic novels account for only 10% of the collection, but 35% of the total circulation numbers.
