About Us

Boopsie for Libraries was founded in Silicon Valley in 2006. It is the industry-leading mobile platform-as-a-service ("PaaS") for over 4,000 library locations worldwide.

Our custom-branded Native Mobile Apps for Libraries are affordable, easy to deploy and maintain, and enable libraries of all types and sizes to quickly acquire new users and increase circulation.

Boopsie’s library-branded mobile apps are delivered as a platform-as-a-service ("PaaS"), fully hosted and maintained by our customer service organization. We build native mobile apps for our library-customers on Android, iOS, Windows Phone 8, Windows Mobile, Windows 8, Kindle Fire, and even Blackberry.

Boopsie enables 24/7 remote library access on the users' device of choice.

Our Mission is to enable libraries to make more services more accessible to more members of their diverse communities and to support our libraries' individual and unique missions by providing scalable, reliable and easy-to-use library-branded mobile apps that users of library resources increasingly demand.

Tony Medrano
CEO

An accomplished business development and online marketing leader with over a decade of experience managing P&Ls, developing large partnerships, and building high performing sales and services teams at SaaS and Internet companies. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Business Development and General Manager at Reply.com, a $70m Internet marketing company. Prior to Reply.com, Medrano was Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Field Operations at SmartDrive Systems, a Silicon Valley venture funded SaaS company.

An entrepreneur, Medrano also started, DoDots, the first desktop-to-mobile app platform out of his Stanford University dorm, where as President he built it to 100+ employees, raised $25M in venture capital and managed company operations and business development. Medrano received his MBA and JD from Stanford and his BA from Harvard University. Medrano also brings experience in the education market to Boopsie. He has a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Teachers’ College at Columbia University, taught a class at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business for 5 years and is a certified public school teacher in Massachusetts and New York. He also served as an Engineering & Operations Officer in the U.S. Navy aboard a guided missile destroyer.

Nicholas Wehr
Executive Vice President of Technology

Nicholas Wehr, a serial entrepreneur, brings his technical expertise in digital media, DRM, and  I.T. security to the Boopsie family. As lead architect and engineer of Hollywood’s most secure content delivery platform, PRIMA Cinema, NIcholas knows how to apply best practice technology to deliver against business needs.

Nicholas thrives in startup environments, and enjoys shaking up stale markets with new disruptive technologies. At DivX, Inc. Nicholas was responsible for managing and implementing internal technologies and developing new business flows to optimize and support the revenue generating departments.

In 2005 Nicholas’ first startup, Tenothree, LLC.,  offered a ground-breaking mobile product line to the centuries old industry of horse racing.

Gail Tsujita
Vice President of Customer Service

Gail Tsujita is responsible for the Customer Service team at Boopsie for Libraries. Her goal is to make sure all customer interactions are handled with the best possible care and confidence. Gail brings her many years of customer service experience leading teams in the mobile, Internet and enterprise software industries including Gameview Studios, Elance and Cast Iron Systems. Gail earned her BS in Computer Science from U.C. Davis.

Megan Vizzini
Director of Accounts & Business Development

A relationship management virtuoso and Silicon Valley native, Megan is an expert in helping libraries achieve their mobile technology goals.

At Boopsie, she manages business development efforts and sales in public, academic, law and corporate libraries. In addition, she leads the academic, law and corporate teams by managing current customers in these industries, heading marketing efforts, and working with partners to grow Boopsie’s platform.

She firmly believes in Boopsie's ability to deliver a high-quality, seamless, with-the-times platform, which allows libraries to meet users’ expectations for access to information.

Megan has worked at various law firms and held editorial positions at one of the top IP legal publications in the country and at Thomson Reuters. She also has many years of customer service and marketing experience.

Megan has a JD from Santa Clara University and a BA from UC Santa Cruz.

She served as a tutor for Partners in Reading, an adult literacy program organized by the San Jose Public Library System, and has organized community events with Career Closet and Project Linus. She was previously appointed as a Community Service Chair for Women & Law, and is committed to mentoring young professionals.

Raymond “Ray” King
Account Executive

Ray serves as the primary contact for public libraries interested in exploring new methods of reaching and serving their communities in innovative ways. With strong roots in the tech industry and sound business acumen, he helps refine internal processes and outreach efforts for a better customer experience.

Ray has worked with Software as a Service (SaaS) companies and was an analyst for the US Army, where he was recognized for his analytical expertise and sound leadership qualities. Ray received his bachelor's degree from American Public University System and is currently completing his MBA in Marketing at San Francisco State University and is more than happy to talk with you about different marketing methodologies and ROI.

Glenn Miller
Senior Manager of Accounting

Glenn, a former native of the Midwest, has worked in the Silicon Valley for the past six years in the accounting and finance field for the hi-tech, manufacturing, healthcare and SaaS industries. Prior to his work in the Silicon Valley, Glenn served as an infantry, non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps where he gained the experience of readily adapting and overcoming obstacles in high-stress environments while ensuring mission success. Glenn brings this unique experience to the accounting field by developing internal controls and accounting processes that ensure the validity of financial records in an ever-changing environment. Glenn has worked closely with start-ups to correct historical accounting records, while recommending and implementing necessary changes to improve and streamline policies and controls. With his focus on building a close relationship with operations, he improves everyday processes that allow for more accurate accounting reporting, ultimately improving the validity of financial records. Glenn received his B.S in Finance from Western Governors University and his Master’s in Accounting from Regis University, where he graduated with honors. His passion for delivering highly compliant and accurate financial records is instrumental in ensuring the growth of Boopsie, Inc. continues.

Katie Stinson
Library Outreach Manager

Katie is responsible for creating and managing information valuable to libraries, librarians and their communities of users. She worked at the Graduate and Undergraduate Libraries at the University of Michigan while she was in college, which is where her love of libraries expanded. Katie received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and was a member of the Residential College on Campus.

Richard Haley
Software Engineer

Richard is a back-end software engineer for our apps. He builds and specializes programs to assist with ILS integrations in both Perl and occasionally in Javascript. He’s worked with several other companies, including Info Plus International, Access Innovations, and Electronic Arts as a Systems Administrator, LAN Administrator, and software engineer.

Dr. Michael Housman
Advisor

Dr. Michael Housman is the Chief Analytics Officer at Evolv, Inc.  Dr. Housman has over ten years of experience engaging in data analytics and working directly with stakeholders to interpret and put the findings of rigorous analysis into practice.  Dr. Housman has worked for a number of contract research organizations, including the RAND Corporation, The Urban Institute, and The Lewin Group.  He has also consulted previously for PricewaterhouseCoopers and helped to develop a SaaS platform for Pascal Metrics, a leading provider patient safety and risk management services to hospitals and healthcare systems worldwide.  He has published his work in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at dozens of academic and practitioner-oriented conferences.  Dr. Housman received his A.M. and Ph.D. in Applied Economics and Managerial Science from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his A.B. from Harvard University.

Dr. David M. Clementz

Dr. Clementz is the Managing Partner of Silver Eagle Partners, LLC, based in Alamo, California. In this capacity he is engaged as an executive level management advisor and private equity investor. By specializing in technology management he seeks to assist firms in developing high level management strategies, enabled by technology. He is also a Principal in Walking Liberty Ventures, LLC, focusing on small business strategic management and growth opportunities.

One of his early engagements led to a two year permanent position with EDS in Dallas, Texas, where he served as Executive Vice President for Service Delivery, during the Company’s turn-around in 2004-2005. In that capacity he was responsible for over 100,000 employees in 65 countries and a budget of over $15 Billion.

He retired from Chevron Corporation in 2003 where he was Enterprise Chief Information Officer for ChevronTexaco Corporation and President of ChevronTexaco Information Technology Company. He served as CIO for Chevron and ChevronTexaco for over 6 1/2 years and was responsible for providing computing and telecommunications technology services worldwide. Dr. Clementz also was President of Chevron eBusiness Development Co., managing a portfolio of Internet-based services. He has over 35 years of technology management experience.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Clementz has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arizona, a Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, a Master of Science from Purdue University and a Doctorate in Soil Science from Michigan State University. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He is a Vietnam Veteran, having served as an officer in the US Marine Corps.

Dr. Clementz joined Chevron in 1973 as a Research Chemist at Chevron Oil Field Research Co. (COFRC) in La Habra, Calif. During the early 1980s, Clementz was a Production Engineer for Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and later returned to COFRC as Assistant to the President. From 1985 to 1990 he held management positions in reservoir engineering at COFRC.

In 1990, Dr. Clementz was named Manager of Engineering for Chevron Canada Resources in Calgary, Alberta. In 1992, he took part in a study that resulted in the formation of Chevron Petroleum Technology Co. (CPTC), where he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Technology Management and Planning. Dr. Clementz was elected President of CPTC in November 1994. He was responsible for the formation of Chevron eBusiness Development Co. in 1999.

He is past chair of the American Petroleum Institute’s General Committee on Information Management and Technology. In addition, he is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers; and has served on the advisory board of the College of Science and Engineering at San Francisco State University; the President’s Cabinet at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; the Global Council of the Thunderbird American Graduate School of International Management.

Greg Carpenter
Co-Founder of Boopsie

Greg Carpenter is an established leader in the field of technological convergence regarding merchandise, mobile, music and entertainment on the Internet. He has developed several mobile service applications including RSSHome.com, 1800Message.com and all client software for Integrated Media Measurement Inc (IMMI.com). Carpenter also served as Chief Technology Officer for Ralph Lauren Media, LLC; CEO and COO at Digital Entertainment Network, Inc. (DEN) and previously was the Director of Marketing for Microsoft’s Windows Media Technologies where he led the marketing and product technology for such ventures as the Windows Media Player, Windows Media Services and other Windows Media technologies.

Dr. Tim Kay
Co-Founder of Boopsie

Dr. Timothy Kay is an entrepreneur and high tech consultant whose clients include Cray Research, IBM Research, Microsoft Research, IMMI, Inc., TokTu LLC, and M&A Alliance. He also serves on the advisory boards of box.net and M&A Alliance.

Dr. Kay’s first startup experience was as the first hire at Silicon Gaming, which was Benchmark Capital’s first investment. This initiative led to a series of startups including Metro3D, VXtreme, InfoSpace, and LuckySurf.com. In 1997, Dr. Kay co-founded Query Labs, an Internet consulting firm that provides third-party directory services to newspapers and media firms.

In 2000, Dr. Kay founded Colloquis, Inc., where he created the engineering and technology group. He was responsible for guiding and implementing the technologies that drove the success of Colloquis’ products until its acquisition by Microsoft in 2006.

In 1997, Dr. Kay, along with his advisor James T. Kajya, won an Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for pioneering work in 3-D computer graphics. Dr. Kay received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the California Institute of Technology.

Will Poole
Board of Directors

Will is an independent Social-Technologist, supporting ICT for Development projects and startups, and promoting Creative Capitalism. He is co-chairman of NComputing, which in 2010 shipped its two-millionth unit, 75% of which are deployed in schools, and all of which use up to 90% less energy than conventional PCs. He co-chairs Pengala Learning, developing solutions to help kids learn more, faster; and Volt Boats, revolutionizing personal boating via green electric technology. Will was previously corporate VP of the Unlimited Potential Group at Microsoft, co-leading efforts to bring social and economic opportunity to the “next billion”. Will also ran Microsoft’s Windows Client business, and headed up New Media Platforms and other internet and digital media groups. Will joined Microsoft in 1996 with the acquisition of eShop, an internet e-commerce pioneer which he co-founded in 1991. Before that, he spent five years in marketing and engineering roles at Sun Microsystems. Will received a degree in Computer Science from Brown University in 1983. Windows Media Player, Windows Media Services and other Windows Media technologies.

Liz Heller

Liz is a recognized visionary media innovator and entertainment industry pioneer, whose award-winning career spans film, music and technology. Emil Michael is the new SVP of Business at Uber. Most recently, Emil was the Chief Operating Officer at Klout (where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors) and before that was SVP of Field Operations at Tellme Networks (sold to Microsoft in 2007). He has been an active investor and advisor in the Silicon Valley since 1999 before which he was an associate in Goldman Sach’s Communications, Media and Entertainment Group in New York City. He also served as a White House Fellow to the Secretary of Defense from 2009 through 2011. He is a graduate of Harvard with an AB degree in Government and Stanford Law School where he received a JD.

Sameet S. Mehta

Sameet Mehta is currently a General Partner at Granite Hill and has been leading international investments and corporate development in the technology industry for over 15 years. Previously, he founded Cisco Systems' India venture capital effort in 2004 where he managed $100 million of committed capital and five investments in mobile technology, content, and digital media. Sameet has served on the board of Nimbus Communications and as a board observer with IndiaGames and Bharti Telesoft. Prior to founding the India effort at Cisco, Sameet worked on M&A and investments for Cisco in the US, including the acquisition of Linksys. Sameet holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, and an MBA from Stanford University.
